Who we are

The Signals, Systems and Radiocommunications (SSR) Department of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) was created in 1987, within the framework of the “Ley de Reforma Universitaria”, to integrate several research Groups from UPM's Higher Technical School of Telecommunication Engineers (ETSIT), which worked on the communications, radio technologies and signal processing areas.

The quality of the cutting-edge research carried out and the active leadership of SSR's members have been key factors in the industrial innovation and competitiveness of the ICT sector in Spain. The SSR Department leads extensive collaboration with companies in the industry working together with private and public organizations. This intense relationship, which is a hallmark of the SSR Department, helps us identify and address real and relevant problems for the digital society.
